Inti Raymi
In Quechua ("Fiesta del sol"), it is an Inca and Andean ceremony held in honor of the Inti (the Sun God), which takes place every winter solstice (June 24, in the southern hemisphere). The current inhabitants of the Andean countries, with the presence of national and foreign visitors, continue to carry out this tradition.
The Inti Raymi, is one of the most important festivities of the imperial city of Cusco. This wonderful show performed in the esplanade of Sacsayhuaman.
Currently,about 750 actors participate, who represent their ancestors with the same fervor of centuries ago.
The event Inti Raymi (June 24)
On June 24, the party in honor of the Sun God, takes place in the three historical and natural settings that are usually used:
- The Qorikancha (Golden fence): In the Inca times it was the main temple dedicated to the sun.
- The Plaza de Armas (the old Auqaypata or Plaza del Guerrero): During the Incas, the ceremony was held in this immense square
- Saqsaywaman (voice that derives from the Quechua terms "saqsay" and "waman" that translates it into Spanish means "satiate falcon"). This impressive archeological center is 3,555 m.s.

There are three zones (Tribunas) - ("Tribuna Naranja - Azul y Verde") - where passengers will be located for the Intiraymi Ceremony (in Sacsayhuaman)
